Welcome to the Home page of the Emirates National Schools. The Emirates National Schools (ENS), started in 2002 and are preschool through 12th grade schools, on three campuses. Our programs blend the rich traditions and culture of the United Arab Emirates, with the requirements of living in a progressive international society, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The ENS system consists of three campuses: Mohammed bin Zayed, Al Ain, and Abu Dhabi City. The system is focusing on delivering the International Baccalaureate Programmes, as candidate schools, and curriculum of the American Diploma project. Our curriculum, in all grades is taught in English as the primary language of instruction and our students also receive instruction in the rich Islamic culture and Arab language. We believe that this enhances the education our students receive, in our programs, while establishing high expectations for their achievement through the programs we are working to offer.
Beginning in the 2009 – 2010 school year, the organization of our campuses have taken on a new look. Each campus has a new Campus Director, new Secondary Principal and new Primary Principal. Our teaching staff comes from many nations and backgrounds from around the world. Their diversity and background in teaching allow us to provide a very high quality education.
As the Schools Director, I would like to introduce myself. This is my first year in Abu Dhabi. My latest role before that was a Superintendent of Schools in the United States. Holding a Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Colorado – Boulder, I also serve on the Board of Governors for the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and on the Board of Directors for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation (SMEeF).
These experiences have enabled me to see and understand the value of an international education in meeting the challenges of the world today and tomorrow. I believe that we are beginning the process to focus on the needs of tomorrow through the education offered in the ENS today. This will make our students ready to deal with the challenges facing us today and establish their role in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the ENS and its journey to prepare students for the future. We expect that you will be hearing more about us in the future. |
